The Marion County Healthcare Foundation awarded the Marion County School District $367,440 for its adult education program, according to a news release from the district.
The foundation says the money will help the district move the adult education program from its location on Liberty Street to the Academy of Careers and Technology Center, which is housed at the workforce development center.
"We believe, just as the school district does, by moving the adult education program to the workforce development center at the Academy of Careers and Technology Center there will be great synergy created. Expanding the adult education program and offering workforce development training opportunities to our adult students on the same campus will be helpful for the students and just makes sense," said Mary Dunbar, Executive Director for the Marion County Healthcare Foundation.
The Marion County Healthcare Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life in Marion County through inspired philanthropy, grants, and innovative community programs.
