St. Matthews S.C.- The Calhoun County School District deployed its new 1:1 computer initiative. Each student in grades 3-12 received their very own Chrome Book, which are being utilized across the country, in order to enhance each student’s learning experiences.
Teachers in the Calhoun County School District can now better design lessons that meet each student’s individual needs in a much more effective manner. Dr. Steve Wilson, Superintendent of Calhoun County Schools, was on hand at each one of the deployments. When asked why Chrome Books are beneficial to the learning experience. Dr. Wilson stated, “We are preparing students for college and career readiness. We must recognize that many of these future jobs will require a certain level of technological awareness.”
As each student received their Chrome Book the level of excitement was visible. Students could not wait to open their devices and jump right into the educational apps that are available. When asked about Chrome Books going home, Dr. Wilson responded by saying, “This is a great chance to extend the learning environment beyond the classroom.” It has been quite evident that the technological wave of the future is coming to schools across our country. In Calhoun County it seems as if the new wave of technology is already here.
