The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) Office of Information Technology will be renewing 1EdTech Contributing Community membership in February 2027 to continue supporting school districts in acquiring this resource at a reduced cost.

The Read to Succeed Act of 2014 required the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE), with State Board of Education (SBE) approval, to develop and continuously refine a statewide plan to improve reading proficiency from PreK through 12th grade.

In accordance with South Carolina Code § 59-18-310(D), districts must assess students using a state-approved formative (interim) assessment each fall, winter, and spring and report results by grade and school to the South Carolina Department of Education.

The South Carolina Department of Education’s (SCDE) Office of Health and Nutrition (OHN) is pleased to announce the 8th Annual South Carolina Farm to School Junior Chef Competition. Culinary teams consisting of a coach and 2-4 team members in grades 9-12 may enter.

With the adoption of English and math High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM), district and school leaders can ensure every student has access to rigorous instruction. The SCDE is partnering with Instruction Partners to offer professional learning and targeted resources that support the effective implementation of HQIM in schools.

The Office of Student Support is hosting a series of webinars titled Chronic Absenteeism, Dropout, Truancy, and Incident Management Data Collection, beginning Tuesday, August 11, 2026. These webinars are designed to help participants better understand state and federal data collection and reporting requirements.

Proviso 1.74 of the pending FY 2026-2027 Appropriations Act authorizes the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) to distribute up to $20,000,000 to public school districts and charter school districts to make upgrades aligned with school safety priorities.
