School and Business Partnerships

National School and Business Partnerships Award 
Created by The Council for Corporate & School Partnerships, The National School and Business Partnerships Award recognizes exemplary partnerships between schools and businesses around the country. Partnerships involving kindergarten through 12th grade public schools and/or school districts and businesses are eligible to apply for the award. The Council presents six awards per year. Those selected for the award receive national recognition and the schools or districts receive $10,000 to support partnership efforts.

School Readiness

Self Family Foundation
The primary geographic area of interest is Greenwood, South Carolina and surrounding counties. The Self Family Foundation will consider requests from other regions of South Carolina if they have statewide impact. The Foundation is interested in education programs that will enhance children's' school readiness; working together with schools, families, youth-serving organizations, and other community organizations to support the intellectual and social development of our young people. Letters of inquiry or requests for information may be e-mailed to:application@selffoundation.org or mailed. Full proposals are due by the 15th of February, May, August, and November.

School Supplies

DonorsChoose 
This is a simple way to provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack. Here, teachers submit their ideas for materials or experiences that their students need to learn. The South Carolina Department of Education's Grants Office assists the state's K-12 public educators polish their proposals prior to posting them on the DonorsChoose Web site. This is an easy way for donors, sitting at a computer, to choose a project and make it a classroom reality. No deadline for posting on-line proposals.

WIS TV is proud to help teachers in the Midlands get the supplies they need for their classrooms and their students in the Second Annual Class Act school supply drive.No deadline for posting on-line requests for school supplies.

Science

Toyota TAPESTRY

ASM International Foundation provides grants to K-12 teachers to enhance awareness of materials science and the role of materials scientists in society. The application procedure requires a two-page proposal describing a curriculum-based hands-on project that involves student observation, communication, mathematics, and science skills while enhancing their awareness of the materials around them.Deadline for applications is May 25 of each year.

Science, Math, and Technology Education

Toshiba America Foundation
The Toshiba America Foundation encourages projects that can improve classroom teaching and learning of science, math, and technology. Proposals from individual teachers or groups of teachers, grades 7-12, will be considered for funding. Proposals are welcomed from public or private schools throughout the United States, but the foundation gives priority consideration to schools in Toshiba America company locations. Decisions about small grants are made monthly, except in March and September. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the foundation before or during the proposal preparation process. Grant requests in excess of $5,000 must be received by no later than the first working day in February for March consideration or the first working day in August for September consideration. Smaller grant proposals (under $5,000) are accepted throughout the year.

Service Learning

2006 Learn and Serve America 
This competition is devoted to expanding high-quality service-learning in K-12 schools with the purpose of helping the Corporation reach its goal of fostering service-learning in at least fifty percent of all public schools by the year 2010. This competition is also intended to increase the proportion of Learn and Serve participants who come from disadvantaged backgrounds from forty percent to sixty percent.Learn and Serve School-Based grants provide funds to State Education Agencies (SEAs) and Grant Making Entities (GMEs), which must make subgrants to state-defined Local Education Agencies (LEAs) that are in partnership with at least one additional organization. LEA partners may include private schools, for-profit businesses, faith-based organizations, other nonprofits, and institutions of higher education. LEA partnerships are responsible for implementation, replication, and expansion of service-learning activities in local communities. Deadlines vary.

Wachovia Teachers and Teaching Initiative
This five-year, $20 million program was created in 2004 to provide funding to organizations that enhance teacher recruitment, development, support, and retention, with the goal of increasing student achievement.  The program ultimately seeks to increase student achievement in pre-K – 12 public education by building and supporting teachers and the teaching profession in scalable and sustainable ways. Because we are dedicated to thoroughly measuring impact and outcomes under this new program—and are committed to dedicating resources to do this—applications are accepted by invitation only. No deadline for inquiry was found. If your organization meets the criteria listed and you feel it should be invited to apply, review the list of current grant recipients and e-mail us with more information about why your organization should be invited to submit a proposal for funding.

Breaking Down Barriers to Assistive Technology Grant
We established this grant program in 2002 to help bridge the gap between education budgets and the need for educational organizations to deploy sufficient resources to serve the needs and requirements of special education programs.  We fully appreciate the significant budget pressures that all institutions experience and this grant program will help to act as a catalyst to solidify your special education / assistive technology programs. The technology is designed to work with Microsoft Windows only.This requires an on-line application.

HP Southeast Region Grants Program
The HP Southeast Region Grants Program is dedicated to being a valued corporate citizen and good neighbor by providing equipment donations to the communities in which our employees work and live. The majority of the Southeast Region community grants are targeted to the states of Florida and Georgia. We do, however, make grants to organizations based in other states in this region. Hewlett-Packard invites organizations to complete a request for proposal (RFP) when the organization appears to align with an HP grant initiative. If you would like us to know more about your school or tax-exempt organization and are in an HP community, please complete this form . If your organization aligns with our grant objectives, you may be considered for a future grant initiative. Complete and submit the form.

Intel Model School Program
If you are interested in enhancing the quality of the educational experience for teachers and students, put Intel and other industry leaders to work for your school or school district today. The Intel® Model School Program provides every school in the U.S. with the opportunity to apply for grants of equipment, and matches companies with schools to provide innovative solutions - from equipment to total Web integration. This funder has a rolling deadline.

Microsoft Unlimited Potential Grants
UP is a global program focused on partnering with others to provide technology skills for underserved young people and adults through community-based technology and learning centers (CTLCs). K–12 schools are not eligible for funding for programs during school hours, but may qualify for support through Microsoft's Education programs or for programs run by a nonprofit or nongovernmental organization during nonschool hours. Microsoft accepts funding proposals from eligible organizations through Microsoft subsidiary offices located around the world. Youth Development

Milagro Foundation
Milagro focuses upon three areas: (A) helping children and youth live healthy lives through education and prevention of disease; (B) helping live literate lives through learning; and (3) helping live culturally enriched lives through arts education. Most grant amounts are between $2500 and $5000. Creative programs from grass roots organizations working with and for underrepresented and underprivileged children and youth take precedence.
