Financial Literacy

In accordance with the Financial Literacy Trust Act, S.C. Code §59-29-410, financial literacy instruction shall be incorporated within current courses throughout the state to increase the knowledge of personal finance and investments among all school students.

***The resources on this page are for the required half-credit Economics and Personal Finance course, not the separate half-credit Financial Literacy requirement. Although some content may overlap, these courses have distinct scopes and fulfill different graduation requirements.***

LifeSmarts | Consumer Affairs - The Ultimate Consumer Challenge LifeSmarts is a fun, interactive program for teens that teaches them how to become responsible consumers and rewards them for this knowledge. The program provides real-world education for students who learn about core consumer topics and develop critical thinking skills. The curriculum meets the National Education Standards and can be implemented in classroom activities, clubs, and community organizations. 
Junior Achievement Worldwide Junior Achievement provides activities, guides, thought leadership and lots of additional resources to support learning. Lessons available by grade level for Elementary, Middle, and High School.
