12th Circuit (Florence, Marion)

Richard Harrington is honored to be appointed to the State Board of Education, representing the people of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit (Florence and Marion Counties). Richard is a graduate of Florence-Darlington Technical College (AS), Francis Marion University (BS), and the University of South Carolina (MBA). He has served in several managerial positions, including General Manager of Shaw Walker/Florence Division, VP of Operations Roper Outdoor Power Equipment, VP of Operations of AVM, and President and Owner of S & W Manufacturing. Now in his semi-retired stage, he owns a large Antique Mall in Florence (Palmetto Peddlers) and is an active real estate investor.
He has been actively involved in public education since 1990, having served as board Chair for the Pee Dee Workforce Development Board, the Pee Dee Area Advisory Board for implementation of the Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA), and has been an active volunteer and mentor at local Elementary schools for several years. He has served on several advisory committees for Florence-Darlington TEC and Francis Marion University. He has also served on several local non-profit organizations, including but not limited to the Florence Chamber of Commerce, the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee, Mercy Medicine Free Clinic, and the United Way of Florence County.
