Teaching to Lead (T2L) In-Service Training

Individuals participating in the CTE Work-Based Certification Program will complete T2L in-service training courses during their first two years of teaching. For any questions regarding the T2L training, please reach out to ctecertification@ed.sc.gov

T2L Instruction Content

T2L is a data–informed teacher preparation and support program developed by SREB and designed specifically for industry professionals transitioning into the classroom. T2L provides timely, relevant professional learning partnered with proven support that meets educators where they are in their first years of teaching. The program is grounded in practice, strengthened by a cohort model, and focused on building long term instructional success.

Training Information

Training is conducted both in-person and through online modules. In-person training days last from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with lunch on your own. Participants are required to bring a laptop with a power cord. All course materials will be provided to the participants electronically, and printed materials can be provided upon request to your instructor at least two days prior to training. Participants will be assigned a state-assigned CTE mentor during their first year of teaching to assist in transitioning from the industry into the classroom.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Year One

T2L Year 1 Cohort

CTE teachers will complete the T2L Year 1 Cohort during their first certified year. Participants are required to register for the cohort option according to their hire date as defined below. Registration information is provided to candidates through My SC Educator Portal and via email with issuance of the first Induction certificate. Depending on when first-year CTE Work-Based applicants receive their Letter of Eligibility and verify employment with a South Carolina public school district, they will be assigned to a different cohort (1A or 1B) and will follow different procedures during their first year of certification.

  • If hired before summer training educators are eligible for the summer T2L Year 1 Cohort training. Educators are now enrolled in Cohort 1A.
  • Educators hired after the summer training must now attend the winter T2L Year 1 Cohort training.  Educators are enrolled in Cohort 1B.
  • Educators hired after the January training will be enrolled in the next summer training cohort.

The two cohorts (1A and 1B) will merge at the Spring PD session and will attend training activities together from that point forward.

  • T2L Year 1 Cohort (cohort 1A attends in July and cohort 1B attends in January; 5 days)
  • Fall PD (cohort 1A attends in October and cohort 1B attends in February; 2 days)
  • Spring PD (cohort 1A and cohort 1B merge for this and all future requirements; March; 2 days)

Year Two

T2L Year 2 Cohort

CTE teachers will complete the T2L Year 2 Cohort during their second certified year. Participants are required to register for the cohort beginning the summer before the second year of teaching. Registration information is provided to candidates through My SC Educator Portal and via email with issuance of the second Induction certificate.
