Hospitality and Tourism is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the travel and tourism industry. Industry segments will focus on such areas as planning, marketing, management, finance, operations, technical and production skills, technology, human relations, labor issues, community issues, environmental issues, and safety. Tourism is a $23.8 billion industry in South Carolina, supports one in every 10 jobs and generates $1.8 billion in state and local taxes.
South Carolina has developed two high quality pathways for this cluster - Culinary Arts Management and Hospitality and Tourism Management. Students have opportunities to develop knowledge and skills through work-based learning experiences, earn postsecondary credit and industry recognized credentials during their high school careers.
Student Profiles are an optional resource educators may use to track student progress when providing instruction. They are intended for print and their content is available in an accessible format through their associated course standards.
