Network Security Services

The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) provides several services that support district network security.

Internal Network Security Setting: The SCDE provides access to Nessus© Professional on-premises network vulnerability scanning tool. This tool allows districts to perform comprehensive vulnerability assessments on their network servers and workstations.

External Network Security Monitoring: The SCDE uses the BitSight Security Performance Management Application to continuously monitor district networks.

Trusted Learning Environment (TLE) State Subscription: The SCDE is pleased to announce the purchase of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) Trusted Learning Environment (TLE) Seal Program state subscription. CoSN’s TLE Seal Program is a nationally recognized student data privacy framework designed to support school districts in developing, improving, and maintaining mature student data privacy programs.
