Comprehensive Support and Improvement Schools (CSI)

Under the Every Student Succeeds Act, Comprehensive Support and Improvement Schools are Title I schools performing in the bottom five (5) percent in the state. Both Title I and Non-Title I high schools will be identified as CSI Schools if their graduation rate is less than seventy (70) percent. Title I schools identified for ATSI due to low performing subgroups who have not satisfied the statewide exit criteria for such schools after six years (two identification cycles) will be identified as CSI schools due to chronically low performing subgroups. Each school identified as CSI will receive technical assistance funds and be assigned a state level transformation coach.

CSI Identification and Exit Criteria

Identification:

Title I schools are separated by grade span and ranked by the overall report card rating. Schools performing in the bottom 5% are then identified as a CSI school. High schools may also be identified if the graduation rate is below 70% regardless of Title I status.

Exit:

In order to exit CSI status, elementary and middle schools must receive a rating of Good or Excellent on Student Progress on the school report card and must have an overall report card score above the initial target score.
In order to exit CSI status, high schools must have a three (3) percent increase in the College and Career Readiness area of the school report card and must have an overall score above the initial target score or a graduation rate of 70% or higher.

2022 Target Scores:

Elementary - 30.79
Middle - 27.48
High - 15.4

Diagnostic Reviews

The Diagnostic Review is carried out by a team of highly qualified evaluators who examine the institution’s adherence and commitment to the research aligned Cognia Standards. The Diagnostic Review Process is designed to energize and equip the leadership and stakeholders of an institution to achieve higher levels of performance and address those areas that may be hindering efforts to reach desired performance levels. The Diagnostic Review is a rigorous process that includes the in-depth examination of evidence and relevant performance data, interviews with groups, and observations of instruction, learning, and operations.
