Ms. Beverly Frierson

Beverly Diane Frierson, representing the 5th Judicial Circuit, is a former secondary English teacher. She earned a BA degree in English from Clark College (now Clark-Atlanta University) and a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. 

Ms. Frierson respects the cultural diversity of South Carolina’s students and educators. She advocates for strong public schools that embrace critical thinking and that equip students with the skills necessary to be competitive on the world stage. Beverly has tutored reading to elementary school students in Fairfield and Richland Counties.

Ms. Frierson is the president of The South Carolina Education Association-Retired. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a UniServ Director (labor relations specialist) in Prince George’s County, Maryland. While in Maryland, Beverly also worked as a columnist for the Prince George’s County Journal.
 
Beverly Diane Frierson, a certified Lay Servant of the United Methodist Church, is the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. T.R. Frierson. She has one sister, Delaine Armetta Frierson. She is a member of the Ethnic Local Church Concerns committee of the South Carolina Conference, United Methodist Church. She is a member of Journey United Methodist Church in Columbia.
