SC Public Charter School Accreditation

The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) has developed a State Charter School Accreditation process as a means to ensure South Carolina public charter schools are recognized by all stakeholders as meeting operational expectations. Please see the memo below which provides additional information and details about the process.

As outlined in the above memo, charter schools wishing to obtain accreditation through this process must submit the following documents to the Office of School Transformation (OST) at the SCDE:

• The most recent edition of the charter
• A signed Statement of Assurances for Charter Schools
• A signed Statement of Assurances for Charter School Sponsors (signed by the sponsoring district Superintendent)
• The most recent charter contract held between the charter school and the charter school sponsor (if applicable -please contact the Charter Schools Program Office within the OST for more information regarding this requirement).
