SUNS

Latest SUNS Installation Guide
  • With the start of the new school year some districts may reinstall their SUNS extract plugin. You can find the latest installation guide at https://ed.sc.gov/data/information-systems/student-unique-numbering-system-suns/installation-guide-suns-powerschool-integration-plugin/

  • Here are 2 important points to look out for when installing:
    1. We want you to send in all students, whether they have a SUNS id or not. We use other information in the incoming record to update the SUNS master DB. Check that your SUNS extract is sending all students. Follow the guide, check your extract template, the data source should be All Student data. If not, you may need to delete and redo your export template, start on page 8. The number of students exported should be equal to all students enrolled.

    2. See page 9 of the template. On step 10 the export filename should be IDREQ-DDDD-%d-%t.txt where DDDD is your 4-digit district code. Be sure to put in the %d and %t, the system will change those to the date and time when the file is generated. As an example, the file for Richland 1 would look like: IDREQ-4001-%d-%t.txt

Several districts are using the wrong filename and their export is not processing.

The system will send several status emails, file received, and one for near matches needing to be resolved. Please remember to resolve your near matches as soon as you can.

If you should receive these emails and are not, or if you would like to open a support ticket, ask to be added for SUNS notifications.
