2002 Results of the ACT Assessment

ACT data, including district averages, are on myscschools.com. ACT does not release School-level averages, which can be obtained from individual districts or schools.

Average scores of South Carolina high school seniors on the ACT college entrance exam edged downward by a tenth of a percentage point in 2002 while the number of students taking the test rose by more than 1,100 ? a 10 percent increase. Five-year trend data showed improved ACT scores despite a 100 percent increase in the number of test-takers.

The 2002 average composite score for Palmetto State seniors was 19.2 on the ACT?s 36-point scale, down a tenth of a point from last year?s 19.3. The 2002 national average dropped two-tenths of a point to 20.8.
