South Carolina Online Professional Development Program
ALL EDUCATORS
SCOPD is a South Carolina Department of Education, Office of Technology program and is only open to educators with a South Carolina teaching certificate. SCOPD provides Office of Educator Certification approved recertification courses and contract Non-Degree graduate courses through Coastal Carolina University. All Non-Degree graduate courses are professional development courses only and may be used for 5 or 10-year Professional Certificate renewal and for upgrading certificate status. SCOPD is not a degree-granting institution and these Non-Degree graduate courses cannot be used to satisfy undergraduate or graduate Degree program requirements or for adding additional area(s) of certification.

PRIOR TO REGISTRATION
It is the EDUCATOR'S RESPONSIBILITY to contact a district professional development coordinator and/or an Office of Educator Certification analyst PRIOR TO REGISTRATION to determine if SCOPD offerings will meet professional development plan and/or certificate renewal requirements. Review the important information below.

Educators WITHOUT a Master's degree Educators EMPLOYED by a South Carolina public school district
Educators NOT EMPLOYED by a South Carolina public school district Educators with an EXPIRED Certificate
Educators enrolled in the PACE program Paraprofessionals

Certified educators without a Master's degree:

Educators without a Master's degree must earn 60 of the required 120 renewal credits in graduate-level coursework to renew their certificate. (Reference Office of Educator Certification, Certificate Renewal Plan, Revised 2004, page 4, paragraph E.)

Certified educators employed by a South Carolina public school district (more...):
1. Review the Certificate Renewal Plan and Credit Matrix.
2. Contact your district professional development coordinator and if required,
3. Contact an Office of Educator Certification analyst.
4. Review the SCOPD enrollment guidelines.
5. Go to the SCOPD online catalog.

Certified educators NOT employed by a South Carolina public school district (private school or not currently teaching - more...):
1. Review the Certificate Renewal Plan and Credit Matrix and if required,
2. Contact an Office of Educator Certification analyst.
3. Review the SCOPD enrollment guidelines.
4. Go to the SCOPD online catalog.

Certified educators with a Lapsed (Expired) Certificate (more...):

1. Contact an Office of Educator Certification analyst, then
2. Review the Certificate Renewal Plan and Credit Matrix.
3. Review the SCOPD enrollment guidelines.
4. Go to the SCOPD online catalog.

Educators enrolled in the PACE program (more...):

1. Contact the Office of Educator Certification PACE coordinator and if required,
2. Contact your district professional development coordinator.
3. Review the SCOPD enrollment guidelines.
4. Go to the SCOPD online catalog.

Paraprofessionals (more...):

1. Contact the Office of Educator Certification Paraprofessional NCLB Title II coordinator and if required,
2. Contact your district professional development coordinator.
