The Mathematics and Science Unit of the South Carolina State Department of Education's Office of Curriculum and Standards has embarked on an exciting new initiative called the South Carolina Algebra Classroom. The South Carolina Algebra Classroom has as its goal the development of a community of Algebra 1 and Math for the Technologies 1 and 2 teachers who will share resources and teaching strategies for improved instruction and increased student achievement. Heyward Hickman and Sandra Goff are leading the initiative under the direction of John Holton, Coordinator of the Mathematics and Science Unit.
