Innovation and Support
The Division of Innovation and Support provides leadership and services to South Carolina schools for enterprise operations and breakthrough initiatives. When, as one large, statewide enterprise, non-classroom services can be provided more effectively, the division coordinates these efforts. Enterprise support services include:
- the maintenance and fueling of 5700 school buses,
- building official services for 1144 schools,
- free-reduced price lunch funding and group purchase initiatives, and
- Medicaid claiming for special needs transportation and administrative services.
The Office of Innovation acts as a clearinghouse for researching, piloting, and funding new ideas to dramatically accelerate improvements in students' academic achievement and in the agency's effectiveness and performance.
